The ‘Breaking Bad’ Breakdown To Get You Pumped For Tonight
Disclaimer: This contains spoilers if you are not caught up.
Tonight’s the night. “Breaking Bad” returns for its second to last episode. With the end only one episode away, we are all getting nervous. How is this going to end? We know some parts, like Walt comes back home to get the rincin, but not much else. But we do know that after last week’s episode, things have gotten dark.
Hank is dead. Jesse is chained up in Todd‘s meth lab prison and Walt is fleeing. Walt Jr. now knows his dad is a drug dealer and Marie is about to f*ck someone’s day up. It’s only been 5 seasons, but it feels like a lifetime.
In light of recent events, we are left to wonder how evil Walt really is. Is there any trace of the old high school chemistry teacher left or has he fully succumbed to Heisenberg?
“I am a dying man who owns a car wash. My right hand to God, that’s all I am.”
We would like to think he is just a dying guy with cancer. That at the end of the day, his motives are good. I mean, he did plead for Hank’s life. He told them about the money, bargained with the neo-nazis (which we all know is pointless) and made a pretty big scene. But in the end, we all knew either Hank or Heisenberg would have to die.
“Walt, you’re the smartest person I’ve ever known and you’re too stupid to see he made up his mind ten minutes ago.”
But forget about Hank, what about Jesse? I think we all died a little inside when Walt told him about Jane. That may have been the cruelest thing we’ve seen Heisenberg do to his assistant.
“I watched Jane die. I was there. And I watched her die. I watched her overdose and choke to death. I could have saved her, but I didn’t.”
I don’t know about you, but I can’t watch Jesse suffer anymore. The poor kid has been trying to get out and absolve his guilt for years, but things just keep getting worse. So it doesn’t make sense. Why would Hank say that to Jesse? We know he loves him like a son.
One answer to this could be that Walt isn’t evil. What if Walt told that to help him move on? To put the blame on himself, rather than have Jesse carry it around for the rest of his life. He wanted to absolve some type of guilt from the kid. He figured that since Jesse hated him already, he may as well tell him the truth about Jane. It could have been an extremely selfless act or an extremely selfish one. I like to think the former.
Let’s move onto Skylar. I’m sure many of you were happy to hear Walt finally tell off Skylar, because she can be such a f*cking pain in the ass. But what Walt did was beyond what we ever imagined. He took the baby, wrestled her to the ground and called her a stupid b*tch. It all seemed a little much, even for Heisenberg.
Yet again, I think this was part of Walt’s plan. He is trying to clear Skylar’s name. This is a way for him to make sure she doesn’t get in trouble for what he’s done. He loves her, and he wouldn’t have done all this without a reason. Walt is just too smart to do anything this impulsive. There is always meaning behind it.
So as we recover from the blows of last week’s episode and start preparing for tonight, let’s all remember the man Walt used to be. He’s still a guy with a family who loves his wife and kids. He still loves Jesse and at the end of the day will do the right thing….Right?
