When you come across famous paintings that look a little outdated, what do you do? Well, you probably don’t do anything because they’re likely in museums behind velvet ropes, but what you should do is give them a modern makeover by slapping emojis on them.

Kiev-based artist Nastya Ptichek took a similar approach when she decided to put social media icons, dialogue boxes and emojis on classic art.

“The project started when I realized that standard iOS emojis strongly resemble some well-known paintings of famous artists,” Ptichek told Wired.

The photo series is titled “Emoji-Nation.” Ptichek also told Wired that she decided not to name it “Emoji Nation Part 1″ because she wasn’t sure if she’d be too lazy in the future to continue the series.

It seems like Nastya Ptichek is a pretty honest artist. And that’s OK, because these alone are the coolest emoji-incorporated works of art you’ll ever see.

She did four parts by the way — no sign of laziness there! Check them out below for a closer look!
