#Wonuts: Forget Cronuts, It’s All About The ‘Wonut’, A Waffle-Doughnut Hybrid (Photos)

Just when you thought cronuts were the best thing that could ever happen within the culinary industry, a Chicago waffle shop called Waffles Cafe decided to create a cross between a waffle and a doughnut.

It’s called the “wonut” and you’re probably already trying to figure out the best way possible to get your hands on one of these. We don’t blame you, they look delicious!

According to Thrillist, they’re only available at two Waffles Cafe locations in Chicago, but it won’t be long before other bakeries in other major cities start copying them!

Check out the photos below for a closer look at the mouthwatering greatness.

Here they are in their full glory. Wonuts.

Once the batter is shaped and prepared, they’re deep-fried in vegetable shortening.

After that, they’re dipped in icing. Yum!

Sprinkles and other toppings like chocolate and nuts can be added.

Love red velvet? You’ll love the red velvet wonut! It’s topped with leftover red velvet crumbles.

Next up, the Mexican chocolate wonut. It’s exactly what it sounds like and features orange zest and dark chocolate shavings on the outside.

This one’s like a mini birthday cake for one!
