A bunch of wine experts got together for a blind taste test and decided that the best wine in the world is Asda's La Moneda Reserva Malbec from Chile. The most surprising aspect of this wine? It'll only set you back about $5.

That's right. FIVE dollars for a bottle of the best-rated wine in the world. Who knew we've been spending a relative fortune on Sutter Home White Zinfandel this whole time??

The super affordable Chilean Malbec won its title as the "ultimate crowd pleaser" at this year's Decanter World Wine Awards after 240 wine experts tasted 16,000 reds and whites from around the world. According to Metro, tasters said the wine had notes of "freshly crushed black fruit, creamy vanilla yoghurt and pepper spice" and received praise for its "succulent juicy berries on the palate."

Asda's Chilean Malbec topped the list of best wines from Chile before going on to sweep the overall category for having the best quality and value. Steven Spurrier, the DWWA chairman, explained the judging process, saying,

Our sole purpose is to recognize and reward quality, this is what consumers all over the world are interested in. We only award medals to wines in which consumers can have the utmost confidence.

Now that statement sounds deserving of a toast.
