There are all sorts of reasons to love St. Patrick's Day.

This celebration gives you the perfect excuse to dress up like a leprechaun, get sh*t-faced with your friends at parades and, my personal favorite, stuff your face with delicious green snacks all day long.

Yep, there's no shortage of emerald eats to go around on this Irish holiday.

However, I think most people would agree the tastiest St. Patrick's Day treat is definitely the almighty Shamrock Shake from McDonald's.

I mean, seriously, I'm not much of a fast food fan, but damn these things are good.

The only problem with these delectable drinks is they're not offered all year round, and it's kind of a pain in the ass to wait in that insanely long McDonald's drive-thru line every time your shake cravings call.

But luckily, the evil geniuses over at Delish just cracked the code on how to make these delicious treats in your own kitchen.

That's right. There's a copycat recipe for Shamrock Shakes, and it's extremely simple.

All you have to do is throw some vanilla ice cream, heavy cream, peppermint extract and green food coloring into a blender and fire that bad boy up until everything is smooth.

Then, pour your icy concoction in a glass, smother your shake in whipped cream, top it with a cherry and you're good to go.
