Marquee New York Releases Captivating Introductory Video

Marquee New York releases an alluring documentary-style video that introduces the nightclub’s distinctively glamorous renovations, state-of-the-art technology, and its music programming featuring the most in-demand artists from around the globe.

Blending the excitement of a sold-out music festival with a high energy nightclub, the new Marquee will be an edgy, music-centric venue revolutionizing the New York nightlife scene – just as it did a decade ago.

Instead of solely offering nightly bottle service, Marquee will feature a variety of entertainment programming, including a 1980s inspired club night with downtown doyenne Susanne Bartsch and concert-style nights with advance tickets available for purchase. Along with original co-founders Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss, veteran colleagues Rich Thomas, Andrew Goldberg and Jonathan Schwartz will also be partners in the space.

“When it first opened, Marquee pioneered a shift in the nightlife landscape by creating a new type of club. A decade later, there is a deviation in what people truly want from a nightclub, which is an authentic, entertainment driven ambience. The new Marquee will be a filtered version of a mega club for people who don’t want to buy bottle service to get an up close musical experience,” said Tepperberg.

Designed by Josh Held, the designer of W Hotels and Bar Americain, Marquee will be transformed into a tripped out warehouse with 28 ft. ceilings and industrial design accents, including chandeliers constructed from functioning microphones, exposed equalizers, walls covered in recycled leather belts and welded rebar handrails.

When entering the space, guests will encounter a long procession that leads them to the middle of the expansive open space – channeling the exhilaration of stumbling upon an underground music venue. An intimate mezzanine and main floor alcove room, “The Boombox,” are extensions of the space, but can also function as their own self-contained venues, ideal for private parties.

With jaw-dropping sound and visual elements, including a Funktion-One sound system currently unparalleled in New York, Marquee will feature a full size stage to host live acts, a floor-to-ceiling LED feature wall and a computerized moving light system engineered to generate a multi-level sensory experience. The first ever “light jockey” will also create custom visual effects nightly on concert grade equipment designed by the famed Steve Lieberman.

“Utilizing Funktion One’s patented horn-loaded-axe-head technology, Marquee’s audio system will set the standard for the night club sonic experience,” said Dan Agne, CEO of Sound Investment.

Instead of tables situated around the dance floor, the stage will be the focal point of the 900 capacity room, with a clear sight line from every seat in the club. Easily removable stackable furniture adds to the layout’s flexibility, allowing it to transition seamlessly from a concert venue to a dance club on the same night.

In addition to its trademark storage banquettes, Marquee will have storage tables and all wood floors designed with extra grip to keep guests on their feet dancing all night. The venue will also feature an overhead wraparound catwalk where performers from costumed dancers to acrobats will dazzle the crowd nightly.

The mezzanine level, dubbed “The Library,” will feature a 3D hand-painted yellow terracotta tile bar top and custom back bar installation resembling an equalizer, crafted from 2,000 vintage books. Stadium leveling in the 150 capacity space will allow for an unobstructed view of the stage and catwalk, keeping the focus on top-tier live acts and entertainment.

The 100 capacity Boombox borrows design inspiration from the grittiness of New York City subcultures, including unique elements such as walls upholstered in hand dyed burlap and a mirrored graphic bar.

During its decade long tenure, the original Marquee was revered for its impenetrable velvet rope and ability to sustain itself in the convoluted nightlife market; a fact even Harvard Business School recognized when it made Marquee the subject of their first ever nightlife case study (“Marquee: The Business of Nightlife”) in 2009.

Marquee New York is located at 289 10th Avenue (Between 26th and 27th Streets), New York, NY 10001. For more information, please visit www.marqueeny.com.
