Ballerina Strikes Incredible Poses On The Side Of A Mountain (Photos)

by Emily Arata

Agathe Petrini is a professional dancer with the heart of an adventurer.

Petrini, who hails from Chamonix, France, teamed up with extreme photographer Alex Buisse, 29, for an ethereal photography series he calls “Mountain dancing with Agathe Petrini.”

In late August, the pair paid a visit to the Aiguilles Rouge (Red Peaks) in the French Alps.

Strapped to a harness and often suspended over dizzying heights, Petrini danced for five hours while Buisse snapped images.

Her long limbs and outstretched figure echo the shapes of the mountains behind her, providing a sort of photo homage to the beauty of both humanity and nature.

Buisse plays with both Petrini and the Mont Blanc range in the background, posing them like two complementary shapes.

These images represent the serenity we could all use.

Buisse writes that Petrini is a recent graduate of a "fancy Paris dance school." She's also a model.

She's also a dance teacher.

What better place for exploring your art than the wilderness?

Petrini's face is always focused, but never worried. It's like both she and Buisse are free of the real world.

The talented photographer's works have been featured in Sidetracked magazine, as well as both Patagonia's and National Geographic's websites.

He says the experiment in mountain dancing is indicative of the culture in Chamonix.

Chamonix is, according to Buisse, packed with "raw talent and creativity."

And he's discovered quite the fearless acrobat in Petrini.

As she strikes even more dramatic poses, it's stunning to see how natural it all looks to her.

The sun shines down upon Petrini's dance in the mountains.

This is a dance inspired by solitude, pure artistry and Mother Nature.
