This Amazing Plate Was Designed To Literally Absorb The Calories In Your Food

Throughout most of my adult life, I've had a rocky relationship with carbs.

Personally, I f*cking love carbs.

Whether it's bread, pasta, cereal or sweets -- I'm always down to eat myself into a calorie-packed carb coma.

However, my problem with carbohydrates lies in the fact my waistline loves these things so damn much, it simply just can't bear to let them go.

No really, eating a lot of high-calorie carbs tends to make me blow up like a beluga whale, so unfortunately, I've had to break up with most of my beloved starchy foods.

If you thought leaving your ex-boyfriend alone was hard, you clearly never experienced the struggle of cutting carbs out of your life, once and for all.

It's not just carbs, either. Adopting any diet that restricts your favorite fattening foods is not an easy thing to do.

However, dieting might soon suck a little less, thanks to one clever advertising company in Bangkok.

That's right. The company BBDO Bangkok recently teamed up with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation to create an ingenious invention intended to combat the country's obesity problem, which seems to stem from eating stir- and deep-fried foods.

Behold, AbsorbPlate.

This diet-friendly dish features a special design that's kind of like a fat-absorbing sponge.

Each plate contains approximately 500 tiny holes that suck oil out of your food, so some of the fat from your meal stays in your plate and out of your skinny jeans.

Apparently, the plate can soak up to 7 milliliters of oil, which equals about 30 calories per meal.

I know that may not sound like a whole lot, but trust me, those calorie savings tend to add up throughout the day.

If you're looking to get you hands on one of these oil-absorbing plates, unfortunately, you're going to have to wait a little longer because these smart saucers are still in the concept phase.

But, they sound like a pretty cool idea, so hopefully, these things actually become mainstream staples in our kitchens some day.
