Summer is the best time for us to cash in those vacation days and go somewhere really special. But it’s important we take these getaways seriously, and avoid all the typical travel destinations.

So check out some of the most original destinations in the world, and grab a Stoli cocktail when you’re ready to start browsing for flights and hotels.

  • 8. Fjord, Norway

Fjords are formed when giant glaciers shape the lanscape, creating a deep and narrow lakedrain that opens on three sides.   The glaciated valley which forms the basis of a fjord exists because of the slow movements of glaciers during the ice age. It also looks amazing.   The fjords of Wester Norway are famous for being accessible--allowing activities such as hiking, glacier walking, fishing and cycling.

  • 7. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

It might not seem appealing to travel to the world's largest salt flat in the crest of the Andes, but Salar de Uyuni is absolutely stunning.   It becomes the world's largest mirror when covered in water. It also is home to a special species of pink flamingos that gather once a year in November.   Not enough? Hotels nearby are almost all built out of salt blocks, including the furniture.

  • 6. Yeni Camii, Istanbul

Also called "The New Mosque," Yeni Camii is not quite new--it was completed in the 1600s.   It's lives on the Golden Horn at the southern edge of the Galata Bridge in Instanbul and takes over the skyline.

  • 5. Kawachi Fuji Garden, Japan

This stunning flower arch is called "The Wisteria Tunnel" and you can visit it in the Kawachi Fuji Garden in Japan--just a 4-hour bus ride from Tokyo.

  • 4. Boat Hotel, The Maldives

Only 30 minutes from Male Airport in The Maldives, The Boat Hotel (or, Boatel) is one of the coolest resorts in the world.   The houseboat villas a connection with planked walkways and float right atop the crystal waters of the Indian Ocean.

  • 3. Giraffe Manor, Nairobi, Kenya

A giraffe peeking into your bedroom? That's just another day at Giraffe Manor.   Built in the 1930s, this hotel has a resident herd (you read that correctly) of Rothschild Giraffes.   Apparently, they "vy for your attention at the breakfast table," so definitely hold on to your biscuits.

  • 2. Bahia, Brazil

Be the "Girl From Ipanema" in Bahia, Brazil. Seriously, this locale is where songwriter Vinicius de Moraes lived when he wrote the famously tropical tune.   Close to the equator and the South Atlantic Ocean, beaches stretch along the coast and make it the perfect spot to enjoy coconut cocktails along the water.

  • 1. Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

The ultimate in luxury, Marina Bay in Singapore is unique if only because of its crazy amenities, which include: a mall, a museum, two large theaters, seven restaurants, two floating Crystal Pavilions, an ice skating rink, and the world's largest atrium casino.   No only can you play each of the 1,600 slot machines at this $8 billion dollar casino, but you can also hang out in the infinity pool (as seen above.)

If Eating Cheesecake Is Wrong, I Don’t Want To Be Right

I have a guilty love affair with Adam’s Peanut Butter Fudge Cup Ripple Cheesecake. It is everything The Cheesecake Factory menu promises and more: creamy cheesecake swirled with caramel, peanut butter, Butterfinger and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, all topped with fudge, whipped cream and served with a light peanut butter mousse, to boot. I feel sinful […]

Tour De France Rider’s Legs Will Put Your Leg Day Workout To Shame (Photo)

The Tour de France is one of the most grueling trials in all of professional sports. Only elite athletes can compete in the three-week event and with 21 stages that cover a total distance of 3,664 kilometers, only the strong survive. Cyclist Bartosz Huzarski proved to us that this isn’t a joke with an epic leg selfie […]

Beyoncé Gives The World A Taste Of The ’50 Shades Of Grey’ Movie (Video)

For some reason unbeknownst to me, Beyoncé premiered a teaser for the “50 Shades Of Grey” film on her Instagram account this weekend. The full trailer won’t be released until Thursday, but Bey had a 15-second snippet to share with her fans. The clip itself doesn’t really give us any idea what the film will look […]

Don’t Call Me Crazy: How This ‘C’ Word Is Continually Used To Hold Women Back

We should all know by now, when it comes to women, even the most innocuous words can be laden with separate and often disparaging meanings. Whereas young boys are called commanding, girls are stuck with the negative label “bossy.” Whereas “man up” implies strength and power, acting “like a girl” means being wimpy and inferior. […]

Stuart Scott’s ESPYs Acceptance Speech Gives Us All A Lesson In Perseverance (Video)

ESPN sportscaster and anchor Stuart Scott was awarded the Jimmy V Perseverance Award for his continual battle against cancer. Scott, who has been battling since 2007, was given the award at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday. He gave an inspiring speech, honoring former North Carolina State University basketball coach Jim Valvano, the award’s namesake, who died of bone cancer […]

Why Doing Things ‘Like A Girl’ Doesn’t Mean Doing Them Poorly

It looks more like a social experiment than an advertisement. When behind-the-camera voices asked teens and young adults to show them what it meant to perform different activities “like a girl,” the results were disparaging, but not unexpected. The subjects, both male and female, flailed around for the camera, showing just what they thought of […]

Kanye West Casually Debuted 20 Songs At A Private Party In London

Fresh off his latest rant, Kanye did something surprisingly cool for a select group of fans. He took over a club in London and gave a group of listeners a sneak preview of 20 unreleased new tracks. Unfortunately, we commoners won’t hear Kanye’s new stuff anytime soon. The tracks are presumably from his upcoming album, […]
