Aging gracefully is an art lost on many. However, those who do manage to master this acquire a certain class and finesse over time. Think George Clooney, with age he has become a hot commodity rather than just a single old man. Now, we'd would like to introduce you to the “George Clooneys” of Scotch.

If you have the means to purchase these finely distilled Whiskies, and the taste buds to understand their complexity, you may be able to appreciate the price tags that accompany them. This list of vintage, rare, and exotic Scotch’s have been maturing for at least 50 years, and aging beautifully as they do so. If you are not a Whiskey connoisseur yet, you may become one after reading the following:

The Macallan 55 year old Lalique Crystal Decanter

Considered the love child of Scotland and France, the Macallan 55 is one of the finest Whiskies in the world. This limited edition Scotch is a representation of artistry, spirit, and class. Bottled in 1910, the unique bottle was crafted by perfume bottle designer Rene Lalique. This Whiskey is celebrated as a true gem of two nations.

Highland Park 50 Year Old Single Malt

Developed by the Highland Park distillery, this whiskey was introduced last year in the U.S on a strictly limited production model, with only five bottles marked for production for the entire year. The Highland Park 50 Year Old Single Malt features the stunning touch of almond, clove, and candied orange. This single malt spent nearly fifty years maturing in Sherry oak casks. The bottle casing for this luxury liquor was designed by renowned Scottish jeweler, Maeve Gillies, where in the casing has been hand fabricated from a whopping five kilograms of silver.

Glenfiddich 1937

The 64 year old Glenfiddich is widely regarded as the oldest bottle of Whiskey in the world. The only bottle ever produced was sold at auction in 2006 from Glenfiddich’s 1937 rare collection Whiskey. This is the only bottle ever recorded to have been distilled, matured and bottled at a single distillery. Having matured in oak casks from Cuba added a specific flavor of Whiskey found in no other bottle in the world.

1926 Macallan Fine and Rare Collection

Hailing from Scotland, this 1926 vintage Whiskey is part of the Rare and Fine collection of single malt whiskies produced at the Macallan Distillery. This particular bottle is 60 years old, making it the oldest in the Macallan collection. Only 40 bottles were made and widely acknowledged as being the only single malt Whiskey that matures with character. Macallan is strictly matured in Sherry Wood casks which are hand crafted from Spain adding immense depth to its flavor.

Dalmore 64 Trinitas 

Made in the world famous Damlore Distillery, this expensive Whiskey comes in at a whopping $32,000 per single glass. Trinitias was the suitable name, as there were only three bottles ever made. To ensure exclusivity two of the bottles were sold to collectors, and the third bottle is still awaiting its buyer.

62 Year Old Dalmore

Only 12 bottles ever made, the Dalmore 62 made headlines last year when it was sold for in Changi Airport of Singapore. The Chinese gentleman who bought this bottle wired the store an initial deposit of $100,000 to secure his prized acquisition. This bottle was the most expensive bottle of standard Scotch ever sold with one serving costing around $12,000.

Macallan 64 Year Old in Lalique

If you haven’t had your fill of expensive Scotch yet, Elite presents you with the most the Macallan 64 year old in Lalique sold at Sotheby’s in 2010 and breaking records for the most expensive bottle of Whiskey ever sold at auction. The special decanter was designed and created by famed French designer Lalique, and contains 1.5 litres of the rare “The Macallan” whisky.  The special decanter, itself, is crafted with a unique “cire perdue”, or “lost wax” method.

Aisla T’Orten

Produced by one of the finest distilleries in the world, Master of Malt, is not only known for its unique taste, but with the history that accompanies it. In 2011, Aisla T’Orten produced Master of Malt, an extremely rare 105 year old Scotch that has made its way onto the Elite Whiskey list. Originally distilled in 1906, the cask the whiskey was in survived a massive fire and was the only cask that stayed intact with the Whiskey still in it.

Isabella’s Islay

This U.K based luxury beverage company shocked the world when it released this piece of liquid history. The most expensive Whiskey ever made was released in 2010 and also named the best tasting Whiskey ever made. The exclusively designed decanter takes up a good portion of the $6.2 million price tag. The luxurious bottle is adorned with a staggering 8500 diamonds and features white gold alongside 300 rubies spread throughout the bottle. This Whiskey is known as the most luxurious single malt liquor in existence.
