Le Grange, Courchevel
After a 10-hour flight and 3-hour connection from NYC, the last thing on our mind was dancing. After a bit of convincing from a Courchevel-regular, we put together the best club-outfit we could. Not an easy feat considering we brought no dresses or shoes that didn’t involve some sort of lacing.
But clubbing we shall go, arriving to a thumping dance hall in the village of Courchevel 1850. A three-kiss greeting from the doorman landed-us inside the club under a timber-frame roof above raw slate floors and step-down dance floor presided over by a turntable booth fit for DJ royalty.
And royalty it is, ruled by JackE from Les Caves du Roy in St Tropez for most of winter high season. Unlike NYC, the rod-iron and slipcovered booths that surround the dance floor are not reserved exclusively for bottle service.
At least not all of them, as guests mix and mingle amongst the oversize sofas and stuffed poufs in each of the clubs various lounge rooms. An additional drinking bar offers its own seating as well as plasma screen spinning Rihanna and Kylie videos.
The crowd includes UK TV personalities, Euro-elite and Hollywood starlets looking for a front door photo-op from paparazzi before making their disco entrances in over-the-top ski attire not to be missed even for the jet-lagged.
