This Dramatic Video Of People Missing The Subway Is All Too Relatable

If you lived in the wonderful, bustling city of New York for any amount of time, there's big chance you've spent enough time riding the subway to agree that it is pure hell.

Whether you're aggressively cramming yourself into a packed subway car with no regard for human life, or you're shamelessly shoulder-blocking old ladies as you race down the platform like a madman, it's no secret New York City's underground jungle tends to bring out the worst in everyone.

In a recent video uploaded to YouTube by Gothamist, we're shown a hilarious 2-minute clip capturing the very moment a handful of eager New Yorkers experience pure heartbreak after missing the subway.

The video's description reads,

There is no quintessential NYC experience quite like running down a subway station platform with your arms flapping all about like a distressed penguin, making eye contact with the conductor, and then hesitantly stretching out your hand to try to slip between the doors before they close. For every time they re-open, they're just as likely to slam shut in your face, leaving you gazing at your own disconsolate reflection in the greasy window as the train rolls away forever.

As a former New Yorker who has fled the Big Apple in search of west coast sunshine, I can relate to this compilation of subway tragedies all too well. There's nothing more defeating on a chaotic Monday morning or a hectic afterwork commute than having to come to terms with the fact that you just missed your train.

Written on the faces of every single one of these sad souls is the definition of heartbreak -- and it's actually pretty funny!
