It’s never easy breaking up with someone, but thanks to technology, completely erasing someone from your life has never been easier.
Take, for example, Instagram user (and high school student) cjkarl11, who used the #TransformationTuesday hashtag as an opportunity to crop his girlfriend out of his life.
I don’t want to call this isolated case a new phenomenon, especially when you consider most people will do anything they can to avoid breaking up with someone in person. I assume that people have ended relationships via smokes signals, carrier pigeons, royal couriers, Morse code, telegram and basically any other form of technology that requires no face-to-face interaction.
I would also like to note that while researching this story, I got sucked into High School Twitter, which is strange place I don’t think I’ll ever go back to. Additionally, I’d like to offer up this “parody account” of the girl who got dumped and the five people that follow it as proof that comedy is dead.
