Kickstarter Parody Shows How Crowdfunding Is Becoming A Scam To Get Money

by Gillian Fuller

In honor of our recent post about the potential ills of crowdfunding (aka crowd scamming), here’s a video to really drive the point home.

Posted on YouTube by Harry Partridge, the animated short features Ted Gier (job title: douche), a guy planning to use Kickstarter to create something everyone in the world will want:

A big f*cking pile of money.

The parody video shows just how ridiculous some Kickstarter and IndieGoGo campaigns can be.

Though not all of the commenters are in agreement with Partridge’s take on the often greedy nature of these crowdfunding sites, it does offer an interesting and — let's be real here — refreshingly honest perspective.
