7 Simple, Painless Things You Can Do To Feel Happier And More Focused

by Sheena Reyes

I get it. Sometimes you just don't want to get out of bed.

Bed is basically a comfy cloud heaven, and sleeping in is the best.

Yes, adulting is a struggle.

But if you're going to be an adult with a regular schedule, it helps if you're happy.

No matter your situation, you need to make a conscious decision to get yourself into a positive headspace.

Here's a list of simple things to do every morning to help you feel a little more happier and motivated...

1. Meditate.

Every morning, sit up and stay in bed for 20 minutes before you get out of bed.

Meditating can help you reset and start your day with clarity.

If you have negative thoughts, just notice them and let them pass. If it helps, visualize happiness and goodness to attract a positive day and to come in contact with positive people.

2. Take a shower.

Basic right?

Yes, you should definitely shower in the morning -- and not just so you're clean. Showering helps you feel more awake.

3. Feel positive when you look in the mirror.

After your shower, look in the mirror and think positive thoughts about your body and physical appearance.

This isn't about being vain or conceited. It's about confidence.

Be kind to yourself. Love yourself.

4. Drink a delicious beverage.

My personal favorite is coffee.

But if you're off caffeine, or don't like coffee, try a green smoothie or a fresh juice.

Seriously, it works.

5. Write a list of goals for the day.

Write a to-do list every day.

It will help you think more clearly and feel a sense of purpose.

As the day progresses, tick off each goal or task as you complete it. It will help you feel a sense of accomplishment.

And if you don't get everything done, that is also fine. Remember to prioritize the list so you know what is critical and what can wait until tomorrow.

6. Think of five things you are grateful for.

Start with: “I am so happy and grateful for…”

Write down five things you're grateful for and think about them. This will help you focus on the positive elements of your life.

Let's face it, life can get stressful and messy, so thinking of at least five things you are grateful for will definitely start off the day in a much more positive way.

7. Tell someone you love them.

Check in with your Mom, Dad, family member, your SO, or bestie and remind them you love them.

Communicating with the people you love most is a great habit in the morning, even if you just let them know you're thinking of them.

Everyone appreciates a lovely little text message in the morning.

At the end of the day, its always the simplest and smallest details makes us happy.
