Apple on Saturday opened its biggest Asian store yet in Beijing, with hordes of shoppers descending on the three-floor complex that highlights the growing importance of China to the US tech giant.

The shop, on the major shopping street of Wangfujing in the heart of the capital, covers an area of 2,300 square metres (24,750 square feet).

China is now the second-biggest market for Apple after the U.S. but the company has also faced criticism for the conditions in which its products are produced in China.

The enthusiasm for the company’s gadgets among the country’s fast-growing consumer class was clear Saturday as shoppers quickly packed out the new shop shortly after it opened at 9:00 am (0100 GMT).

Around 100 people also waited outside to enter the store, Apple’s sixth official outlet in mainland China, according to an AFP journalist at the scene. Many other shops in China are also licensed to sell Apple products.

The popularity of Apple in China is such that the launch of new iPhone models has in recent years led to huge crowds jostling to get their hands on the smartphones and spawned a black market in the gadgets.

Why Focusing On Both Work And Personal Goals Is Truly Impossible

I’ve always written, encouraged and spoken about how Millennials will not become slaves to our professions, but instead, will have to find ways to balance our professional passions with personal life passions. Recently, however, I’ve become doubtful about how possible that work/life balance is — at least, if your intentions are to excel at one […]

We’ve all been there. We’ve all had — or worse, currently have — that friend who just won’t ditch “that guy.” Maybe he has really great style or knows just the right thing to say when it comes to apologizing. Maybe he has a really sweet sister or you’ve grown super close to his parents. Fine, […]

4 Mistakes I Made Trying To Play “The Game” That Left Me Broken-Hearted

We all make mistakes. I, for one, love making mistakes. I’ve learned some of my most important lessons through making them, and I know I will make many more — I honestly can’t wait to make them. What I can wait for, though, is going through self-inflicted heartbreak again. One particular mistake I made brings […]

Older Brother Bugs The F*ck Out When He Hears His Mom Is Pregnant Again (Video)

Unless you’re a 16-year-old girl with no marketable skills or a steady source of income (so most 16-year-old girls), you generally expect a positive, supportive reaction from people when you tell them you’re pregnant.
