For those who are ambitious, life can easily feel hectic in finding the balance between life and health. In between studying, working and figuring out life, there is a lot of pressure and stress on our generation, that's no secret. We have a lot of information to take in, a lot to get done and we have to always be ready to learn, adapt and accept change.

But no matter how hectic life gets, your top priority should always be to take care of yourself. Many people don’t realize how much more one is capable of if one is healthy. A healthy body means an efficient mind, strength, energy and beauty. Keeping yourself healthy allows you to deal with stress more efficiently, get more done and to be unbreakable in the face of challenge.

Our success and efficiency depend a lot on our level of confidence. Without confidence, it is hard to do anything well and is also energy draining. When you are healthy, you feel happier and more confident in any situation. Health gives you a glow. It makes you radiate energy and have a presence that will permeate every aspect of your life. It also makes you beautiful, because no makeup or designer clothing can replace the beauty that comes from within — natural beauty.

Your body is your machine. It works with you, but it works on its own, and it is up to you to give it the nutrients and care that it needs. Everything else, it will do for you. From repairing and healing itself to making you look great.

There are three main things your body needs to be healthy: fitness, sleep and good nutrition.

Fitness: Working out balances out all the processes inside your body, so as well as making you lean, it will give you better skin, make you happier and confident and clear your mind. You should work out at least 3 times a week. Spend part of the workout doing cardio to balance out your metabolism and have the endorphins going, and the other part doing resistance training or muscle-sculpting exercises (Pilates for example) to build muscle tone.

Sleep: Of course we don’t have much time to sleep, and we need to party while we are young. But nature made us in such a way that we need to sleep in order to function properly. Lack of sleep speeds up aging, demeans your mental, emotional, and physical well being, and makes you nervous and less happy. When you sleep, your body repairs and detoxifies itself.

The brain stores and reorganizes information, and takes the stress out of negative memories (that’s why you always feel better about something after you sleep on it). Not sleeping also makes your immunity system weak. So when you do lose sleep, make sure it is to invest in a good experience or something that will matter in the future. Your brain actually keeps count of the hours of sleep you lost, and needs to get those hours back to recover fully. So after a period of no sleep, give yourself a few days to sleep extra and recover.

Nutrition: Good nutrition is necessary for everything inside to work properly. Many of the minerals, oils and proteins that your body needs, it cannot make on its own, which is why we need to get them from food. Eating right will make you look good naturally. Your skin will glow and your hair and nails will be healthy and beautiful.

Moderation is key, so it’s important not to over eat nor under eat, but rather to give your body the nutrients it needs each day. The nutrient types you need are proteins, vitamins and minerals, healthy carbs and oils, fiber and plenty of water. You should eat a variety of fruits and vegetables each day, because they are filled with vital minerals like iron and vitamin c (which keeps your immunity strong and your energy up), and fiber. Protein is needed for your body to repair itself, the metabolism, and of course muscle growth.

Healthy oils are essential for your brain and nervous system. They are found in avocado, olive oil, nuts and fish. Carbs shouldn’t be avoided entirely, because we need them for energy, fiber and other nutrients. You should avoid simple carbs like sugar and candy, but eat plenty of healthy carbs (found in whole grain bread and pasta, grains, rice and potatoes).

Don’t worry about healthy food making you fat, it won’t. As long as you exercise, eat healthy and in healthy amounts, your body will balance itself out. It is always better to eat natural and organic food, because processed and artificial foods have more harmful chemicals than nutrients.

And most importantly, get lots of water. Life on earth is based on water, so naturally your body works best when it is well hydrated. Drinking lots of water is most important for getting good, clear, hydrated and glowing skin.

You should drink 1.5-2 liters a day. A healthy body will take you to great heights, and will make life a whole lot more fun. Nurture and empower your body and it will nurture and empower your life.
