Feel The Energy: Why I Would Never Give Up The Wonder Of City Life

You've been in it and felt its wonders. The streets — crowded with cars, buses, taxis and people — are chaotic and bustling. Everyone is feeding off each other's energy, ambition, integrity and passion.

There is laughter, screaming, murmurs of conversation and memories being made every moment. Every minute, a new story is being told.

You are in a city.

Cities are filled with endless opportunities. The environment is like no other. There is emotion and adventure at every street corner.

The stranger walking next to you could be a future friend, coworker or lover. Tomorrow, your life could change. You could be promoted, win tickets to travel, meet your best friend, acquire a large sum of money or fall in love. All of these things happen in cities.

As a woman in my early 20s, a city is the perfect place to live. At this age, the world is your oyster, and living in a city gives people so many opportunities within their career and personal life.

I will always be a city girl. My reasons are infinite, but here are just a few:

Cities are never stagnant; they are always moving and changing.

A city life is a busy life. There are people coming and going. Cars, buses, trains and taxis are flying down the streets. People are out walking: couples, families and hungry, career-driven singles. There is never a dull moment.

Living in a city in your 20s allows you to keep moving. There are so many things to do, from going to restaurants, bars, clubs, sports events, museums, art galleries and more. You will never be bored.

Cities are spontaneous and unpredictable.

We all have that one friend who is unpredictable. They surprise us in the best ways; it's why we love them. We live through their last-minute decisions and crazy stories.

Cities are the exact same way: Cities are hubs for spontaneity. Whether it's a pop-up event or celebration, cities will always surprise you.

The city life is unpredictable. Living in a city gives you the opportunity to explore. One can make a spur-of-the-moment decision and go to a sports game or buy tickets to a comedy club. Adventures are at every corner.

Who knows? You may even surprise yourself.

Cities are open-minded and encourage freedom.

In 2015, gay marriage was legalized. Marijuana is becoming legalized in many states. Women are making progress in the workforce, and the gender wage gap is slowly closing. Minorities are slowly but surely being treated equally as they should be.

Living in a city promotes freedom and the right to practice your own beliefs.

Most of these incredible events in history are occurring in cities. People living in cities are more open-minded and believe in equality. Although there is still hardship for minorities and races, attitudes, especially in younger generations, are changing and encouraging freedom and equality.

Racism and discrimination are still alive, but progress is being made. Cities allow equality and freedom to be present.

Cities offer unlimited opportunities and adventures.

Don't like your career or job? Go find a new one on the next block.

Bored at work? Call a friend and walk around the city and find a new bar, restaurant, store and call it your hidden gem. Your next journey could start tomorrow. Opportunities are present at every street corner. It's up to you to notice them.

Living in a city is the most adventurous experience, especially in your 20s. Your next hilarious brunch story could happen at any moment. Maybe if you go to the comedy club with your friends tonight you'll meet the love of your life.

You just never know what will happen.

Cities are full of emotion, especially love and happiness.

If you have walked down any city street and people-watched, you'll see emotion is everywhere. People are laughing, smiling and crying.

Friends are seeing each other for the first time in a while. Lovers are reuniting after being apart. Children are laughing and playing in city parks. A young couple is sharing a moment by a dimly-lit street light.

Living in a city is an emotional roller coaster; it has its ups and downs, but overall, it is an enriching experience. Love and happiness are everywhere. Stop, look around and live in the moment too.

What are you waiting for? Go out in a city and create your own story.
