Life, as we all know, is a series of games of many forms. It is a game of will, a game of speed and a game of wit as well. One thing is for sure, neither of these are in any way simple to understand or overcome. If only we were informed of this abundance of compromising situations earlier.
Throughout our young lives we have always been sheltered by school, lied to by our older peers and were always told that if we do x y and z that everything will just work out with no resistance whatsoever.
Of course, as we get older and graduate from college, we soon realize that the real world bears some harsh truths that some of us are no necessarily ready for. The real world is a cold place that can crumble a person and break them down within seconds.
It’s there to work against you, not with you. Still, it is ultimately up to you as to how you handle this clash of wills and how to make sure you and only you are in charge of what happens to you. Accepting these harsh truths and formulating a game plan to adapt to them and end up on top will greatly assist you in your ability to roll with all the punches life throws at you, we assure you that much.
Life is not easy-
Life isn’t just going to bow down to every command you have and heed to all the wants and needs you express. Hard work is what propels people to getting what they want and creating the life they wish to have. Hard work is what brings dreams to reality, so start every single day by telling yourself that you will fight harder towards your clear cut goals.
You will fail at times-
This might just be one of the biggest secrets of growing up that not many can accept. Many fail in their attempts to succeed and don’t know how to deal with it so they just crumble and shut down. The faster you accept that failure is bound to come your way at some point, the more prepared for the next step you will become. Mistakes are what allows you to learn which strategies work on the path to success. Go out there, brace yourself and try something!
Right now, there’s a lot you don’t know.-
Some of the most influential people in the history of the world have lived to the oldest of ages but have always said that until they are dead, they never stopped learning. Embrace any new information, because you’ll miss it once you stop learning and life becomes a mundane routine.
Tomorrow may never come-
Many of us fall victim to always using the term tomorrow, tomorrow ,tomorrow but it never really comes, does it? Stop trying to push things towards the future because today, when the thought is fresh in your mind and filling you with energy is truly the best time to listen to your heart and take advantage of the moment you have. So spend your time wisely and pause long enough to appreciate it.
Knowledge is everything-
You have heard it before and you will hear it again, the power of information is one of incomparable strength. Knowledge comes from experience as well as vigorous desire to explore what is not yet known. You can discuss a task a hundred times, but these discussions will only give you a philosophical understanding of them. You must experience a task firsthand to truly know how to handle it.
You can’t be successful without providing value. -
Don’t waste your time trying to be successful, spend your time creating something of value instead. When you’re valuable to the world around you, you will be successful.
Someone else will always have more than you.-
Whether it’s money, cars or houses there will always be someone that has more than you. But always remember it’s not about how much of something you have but how passionate you are about getting more.
You can’t change the past-
As we all wish there was some sort of time machine to take us back into the past and change something, it’s obvious it cannot be done. Nobody can go back and start a new beginning so why waste your time worrying about the past when you should be focusing on the future, throwing itself at your footsteps every second? Don’t dwell on what’s only in your head when what’s in front of you can easily be altered.
The only person who can make you happy is you. -
The root of all happiness in your everyday life comes from your relationship with yourself. While your mood may be affected by various external influences, the way you look at yourself and what you make of all that’s around you is much more important than the details of the atmosphere itself.
There will always be haters-
As the saying goes, haters are always going to hate. It’s actually a good thing to have haters because they are a constant reminder that you are doing something right. Don’t worry about what others say or think and always remember, the most successful people have the most haters.
You won’t always get what you want-
Sure you can want that big boat or plane but unless you actually take action towards getting those things and are ready to sacrifice everything you have for it then you won’t get what you want. If you really want the things you say you do, then you’re in for a lot of sleepless nights to put in the amount of work required to get them.
In life, you get what you put in. -
A good friend of mine once told me everything you input will have an output. Your greater input will equal a greater output and it’s completely up to you as to how relentlessly strong that input is.
Good friends will come and go. -
Being in my 20’s, I have seen some of my best friends fall off the face of the Earth. The ones you would think would be there forever disappear with the wind just as easily as they came.
Most of your college friends you won’t even see after college, most of your 20-something friends won’t be there when you and your spouse bring your second child into the world. But some friends will stick with you as a great help on your journey towards the unknown through thick and thin. And it’s these friends – the ones who transcend time with you – who matter most.
Doing the same exact thing every day hinders self growth.-
If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting. Growth happens when you change things – when you try new things and stretch beyond your comfort zone.
You will never feel 100% ready for something new.-
Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity arises. Because most great opportunities in life force us to delve beyond our comfort zones, you won’t feel completely at ease or ready for what it will bring you.
