Electric Daisy Carnival 2013 Hitting Vegas June 21-23
Insomniac’s legendary Electric Daisy Carnival is set to touch down in Las Vegas for its third year in the Motor Speedway next summer.
For 2013, however, the event is taking place June 21-23, rather than this year’s earlier dates. The reason? Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella hopes to avoid the vicious desert winds that caused the second night of festivities to shut down.
“The winds do die down as you get later into June,” he tells the Las Vegas Review Journal today. “We were trying to avoid the heat last time, but the winds are way more of a problem.”
Another planned improvement for EDC 2013 involves transportation: getting over 100,000 fans to and from the venue each day is no small feat, and traffic in 2012 became an issue.
“We also have additional roads that are going to allow you to get to the speedway,” Rotella says. “We got the green light to up our capacity because we did sell out last year, but right now, the event is going to be the size that it was last year, not any bigger, until we know that the access routes in and out are smooth.”
Rotella added that the EDMBiz Conference, which began this year at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, will also be back for 2013, along with a slew of “EDC Week” events at clubs and venues around the city.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale November 7 – mark your calendars! – with three-day GA passes priced at $199 and V.I.P. at $450. Tickets “officially” go on sale January 9, with prices to be announced.
