Nero – Etude [Listen]

British electronic music duo Nero quickly became one of the biggest names in the scene and in the clubs—just last year, they were nominated for BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll. They’re back from the studio now with two new tracks; we can’t get “Etude” out of our heads at the moment—its complex synths and chord progressions weave a mesmerizing spider’s web of sound that later dissolves into a heart-throttling breakdown of grinding beats.

They originally wrote “Etude” and its counterpart “Won’t You Be (There)” to use in their DJ sets, but we’re sure as hell glad they decided to release them instead—it might be a while until their second album, and we knew we’d need something to hold us over.

New York natives The Chainsmokers are at it again with the release of a remix of ASTR’s “Operate.” The striking vocals in the song are paired with a relaxing, yet catchy, beat. The decrease in tempo towards the end is a great addition that builds up the mounting suspense of the beat. The Chainsmokers never [...]

Minnesota native Meek DeMeo receives a verse from TDE’s Kendrick Lamar on his latest release, “Paper Birds.” While we do feel as though Meek is incredibly talented, we can’t help but make the obvious vocal comparison to The Weeknd. Nonetheless, the combination of Meek’s impressive vocal ability and Kendrick Lamar’s wordplay make for dope record. Check out the track [...]

Is There Really A Baby Birdman Out There?

I’m 21. Almost done with college. Almost ready to give up video games. Almost ready to start ordering classy drinks like “black label on the rocks” when I go out. Almost ready to think about starting a family. Obviously “almost” is the operative word, but to be honest — I’ve given child rearing some thought [...]

Out Of Touch Texas Congressman Argues Against Abortion By Saying Fetuses Masturbate

Pro-lifers have been trying for decades to find scientific proof that unborn fetuses can feel pain in their early stages and therefore shouldn’t be aborted, but have been so far unsuccessful (as this proof most likely does not exist). Texas Congressman Michael Burgess, however, may have found a way around this little bump in the [...]

Jimmy Fallon’s Summer 2013 Do Not Read List (Video)

Though many Gen Yers don’t actually read books (unless you include Facebook!), there are some of us who do enjoy leaning back and nestling ourselves into some fine literature.
