Daft Punk is one of the greatest things to happen to the world of music since…Daft Punk. The duo, consisting of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, has brought the funk to music unlike any duo in the industry. In a world where EDM has become the pill-popping culture of music with heavy bass and every song sounding exactly the same, it couldn’t have been a better time for Daft Punk to make their return to the music world with their new album, Random Access Memories.

After listening to their new album on the full stream that is available on iTunes, there is no doubt in my mind that this album will be nothing short of a classic. It’s full of timeless music that anyone can listen to, no matter their age or preferred genre. It’s the disco funk from the 70s that we have all been missing. It’s great to see the two live up to all the hype that has been around this upcoming album. The two proved once again that no matter what time period we are in, no matter what is hot right now, their music will still have an impact on the world.

It will be interesting to see how all the zombies on molly react to hearing this type of music at these large music festivals that usually handle much heavier bass, sounds and repetative music.

Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop. In light of their new album coming out on May 21, here are the 30 facts that you didn’t know about Daft Punk. Enjoy and keep funking.
