People With Down Syndrome Dance To 'Happy' To Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day (Video)
by Doran Miller-Rosenberg
It's World Down Syndrome day, and a new video has hit the Internet celebrating its glory to the tune of Pharrell's "Happy."
People with Down syndrome often go forgotten, ignored or marginalized in our culture, and others. Historically, families felt extreme shame, and would often hide or exile their relatives with Down syndrome.
Thankfully, those barbaric customs are mostly eliminated (although the stigmas surrounding all developmental disabilities must be completely eradicated).
Videos like this are a celebration of difference, as opposed to an indictment of it.
The world can use a lot more of that, and a lot more "Happy." Good thing neither are going anywhere.
