An 11-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to raping a 9-year-old boy 15 times.
The child, who is now 12 years old and can't be named for legal reasons, was caught when the victim's mother heard whispering over the baby monitor at her home in Blackpool, England.
She walked in to find the defendant raping her son. He told her,
I am sorry, I don't know why I did it.
When interviewed, the victim told police the boy had raped him almost every day they played together and asked him to keep it a secret.
On top of this, the boy pleaded guilty to charges of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy and attacking an 11-year-old disabled child. The latter offense took place while the defendant was on bail for the previous rapes.
The offenses are believed to have taken place between April 2015 and sometime last month.
He's reported to have pleaded guilty immediately.
Prosecutor Kerry Grieve said the boy groomed his victims and can expect time behind bars.
"Grooming" is defined as "a tactic of overcoming the survivor's defenses by slowly desensitizing his or her natural reaction to abusive behaviors."
Grieve told the court,
He has been assessed as at a high risk of joining in further sexual behavior. He used some grooming of the other boys...the Crown would say a custodial sentence is appropriate in this case.
The boy's lawyer, Brett Chappell, explained the young rapist has a history of being sexual abused himself.
He added the defendant has shown remorse and admitted he has issues which need to be addressed.
Because the attack took place at the age of 11, the defendant is one of Britain's youngest ever sexual offenders.
Earlier this year, a boy from Plymouth, England, was convicted after a string of sex attacks on his 9-year-old sister. He too was 11 at the time.
