Apple released a Smart Battery Case that gives iPhone 6 and 6s users 25-hour increases in talk time.

According to the Verge, the case, the first of its kind to be released by Apple, was posted on the company's online stores earlier today and is now available in charcoal gray or white.

Costing a reasonable $99, it reportedly extends Internet usage on LTE to up to 18 hours, compared to the 10 hours of Internet time offered by the iPhone's battery by itself.

The case can be charged on its own or at the same time as the iPhone by way of a Lightning port, the connector that charges the iPhone 5 and up.

Simultaneous charging, however, is only possible when the phone is at least halfway charged.

When the case is being used, the amount of power it contains will be displayed on the iPhone's lock screen and notification center.

Aside from price, what gives the Smart Battery Case the edge over competing, third-party battery cases is its ability to increase cellular performance and connectivity, thanks to a series of antennas, 9to5Mac reports.

Ample physical protection is provided by the case's microfiber interior, while its shape eliminates any difficulty in removing the case or putting it on.

Battery cases will reportedly not be made for the iPhone 6 Plus or iPhone 6s Plus.

Should one order the Smart Battery Case today, it will reportedly be delivered as soon as Thursday.
