What Happens To Your Body When You Eat Pizza And Stay In Bed All Week

by Leigh Weingus

Picture this: Someone asks you to lie in bed for an entire week while eating insane amounts of burgers and pizza in the name of science. Sounds great, right?

That's exactly what happened when researchers at Temple University had volunteers eat 6,000 calories worth of burgers and pizza for seven days and banned them from exercising.

In unsurprising news, it turns out eating that much is really, really bad for you.

Not only did participants gain an average of over 7.5 pounds during the experiment, but their glucose levels shot way up and they developed insulin resistance, which can lead to type 2 diabetes.

Another study conducted out of Boston University also found frequent consumption of restaurant hamburgers is associated with increased obesity risk.

Sorry if I just ruined your love of burgers and pizza. You can still eat them in moderation -- I promise!
