Apple Up Ahead Of Event; eBay Leads Tech Gains

Tech stocks rose in early trades on Thursday, led by eBay Inc., which posted better-than-expected results for the fourth quarter the previous afternoon.

Apple AAPL +0.07% shares rose fractionally ahead of an event in New York City, at which the company is expected to unveil new offerings related to electronic textbooks.

eBay EBAY +3.79% shares were up more than 3% to $31.27.

The Nasdaq Composite COMP +0.39% rose 0.4% to 2,780 while the Morgan Stanley High-Tech IndexMSH +1.12% was flat and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index SOX +1.10% was up nearly 1%.
