There is a GameStop right next to my apartment by Union Square. At this GameStop, and no doubt every other one in the US at least, there was a line going out the door and spilling out along the sidewalk.

What were all these devout gamers waiting for you might ask? Well, at this point everyone, even the reclusive girlfriend, knows it was the long awaited Grand Theft Auto V.

Raking in $800 million in first-day sales all over the globe, Rockstar’s game crushed the original leader in first-day sales, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which had a mere $500 million in profit.

As the LA Times explains, Call of Duty went on “to reach a billion in sales in 15 days — faster, many observed, than the box office record-holder ‘ Avatar.’”

The fact that video games have gained such a massive foothold in the market is impressive. The game is basically like playing a character in a movie… a very long movie whose plot delivers in an impressive way that can seldom be compared to most other games.

Elite Daily’s own, Tyler Gildin, was out on the scene while people eagerly awaited GTA’s initial release. Though he seemed to meet people of all ages and from all walks of life, they all shared the same anticipation, if not obsession for the game.

I think it is safe to say that a lot of girlfriends are going to be lonely for at least the next week. I hope they manage to keep their jobs though.

Everything Wrong With The World: Australian Teen Says He’s The Next Paris Hilton (Photos)

This 17-year-old  likens himself to an Australian Paris Hilton… which makes total sense, since he’s “famous” for doing absolutely nothing. Kurt Coleman’s biggest fan is himself, although he has amassed over 170,000 followers on Facebook and nearly 85,000 on Instagram. As obnoxious as he sounds, Coleman is perhaps best known for taking “selfies 24/7″ because, why […]

If You Order Coffee Like These People, Your Barista Probably Hates You (Video)

A few weeks ago, we posted a video mocking the hipsters who populate coffee shops around the country. It featured the kind of people you’d expect to encounter if you walked into a Not Starbucks in Brooklyn, Austin, Portland or wherever we’re hailing as the Hipster Capital of the Country this week. This video takes […]

Egyptian Man Ends An Interview In The Coolest Way Possible (Video)

My Arabic is a bit rusty, but according to the infallible scholars of Reddit, this man was being questioned about whether or not recent political instability should delay school openings in Egypt. The man agreed that this would be a good idea, but mere seconds later he spotted his bus and ended the interview in […]
