The Lakers may look like complete crap on the basketball court right now. But, the owners of the team still have at least one thing going for them.

Earlier today, Forbes put out a list of the most valuable teams in the NBA. And, the Knicks and Lakers finished at No. 1 ($1.1 billion) and No. 2 ($1 billion) on the list, becoming the first two NBA teams to be valued at more than $1 billion.

Rounding out the top five, the Bulls were valued at $800 million, the Celtics at $730 million, and the Mavericks at $685 million.

There were a few surprises on the list, too. For instance, the Thunder landed outside the top ten in the No. 12 slot at $475 million. But, things could always be worse, right?

Despite their success in recent years, the Hawks don’t appear on the list until No. 28 at $316 million. And, MJ’s Bobcats are No. 29 at $315 million, while the Milwaukee Bucks round out the list at No. 30 at $312 million.

A Healthy Derrick Rose’s Bulls Are Better Than LeBron James’ Cavs

This time, we should know better. If there’s one thing sports has consistently taught us over the years, it’s that super teams do not work like magic. Recent history speaks for itself. Gary Peyton and Karl Malone joining Shaq and Kobe didn’t hand the 2004 Lakers an NBA title. Acquiring an ungodly amount of talent, headlined by […]

Russell Westbrook’s Broken Hand Will Certainly Not Help OKC’s Season

When one door closes, another opens. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. Despite that being what I’ve learned about life opportunities, I’m having trouble looking on the bright side of Russell Westbrook’s newly broken hand. When a particularly tricky brand of broken foot put Kevin Durant out of commission a few weeks ago, a […]

At This Point, We Should Probably Stop Celebrating Columbus Day (Video)

When it comes to people whose ideas you should take seriously, supporters of Columbus Day fall somewhere between Washington Redskins fans and opponents of gay marriage in a ranking of people who are going to end up on the wrong side of history. It turns out Christopher Columbus probably wasn’t the first person to discover […]

Disclaimer: We do not intend to diminish the devastating impact that Ebola is having in West Africa. Ebola is a very serious disease and it should not be trivialized. However, it’s important to keep things in perspective and to learn about the facts surrounding this virus. At the moment, Ebola poses a far greater threat […]

Good Luck Trying To Sleep Tonight After Watching This 60-Second Horror Film

Here’s a creepy little short film to start your day off right. It’s called “Tuck Me In,” and it was directed by Ignacio F. Rodó. This one isn’t going to shake you with cheap scares like things popping out of the shadows. But, it will unsettle you, especially if you have children. I don’t advise watching […]

Grit And Grind: What To Expect From The 2014-15 NBA Season

It’s been nearly five months and I’m still not over the incredible left-hand dunk from Manu Ginóbili. While he was posterizing Chris Bosh in the second quarter of San Antonio’s 2014 Finals victory last June, he wasn’t just defying gravity and male-pattern baldness. The rejuvenated Argentine assassin was Spurning Father Time, bad bounces and the notion that historic NBA dynasties die just as quickly as […]
