In the world of sports agents, there are many who earn a living but few who control the big picture, not just representing athletes but making the role of an agent more vital and and helpful to their client’s career.

These are the sports agents that have a huge influence on the future of the leagues these athletes play for due to their ability to acquire big name players and take it upon themselves to make sure they are treated with the respect they deserve.

They have successful businesses because they make sure they have successful clients, and they have become the most trusted figures in making financial decisions and knowing who will bring the most value to their recruiters. These are the top five sports agents that have come run the show in professional sports.

1.) Tom Condon

Works for CAA Sports where he holds the position of co-head in the Football division. He is long regarded as the most powerful agent in the NFL for his blue-chip quarterback clients and record-breaking contracts. Condon, by merging his practice with up-and-comer Ben Dogra, has created one of the largest and most star-studded athlete representation practices in modern sports history.

CAA Football represents 130 NFL players, and Condon has personally represented six No. 1 overall draft picks since 1998. Condon was the NFL Player’s Association president as a player and now represents NFLPA Executive Director Gene Upshaw, who deeply connects Condon with many important figures within the NFL.

2.) Scott Boras

A super-agent who is the president of his own company, Scott Boras Corp. One of the most recognizable agents in all of baseball, Boras is the most successful independent agent based on the value of contracts negotiated. Most notably, he represents Alex Rodriguez one of the highest paid baseball players ever to play. Other notable clients include J.D. Drew, Mark Teixeira, and Matt Holliday.

3.) Arn Tellem

The president of WMG Management. Last year, he represented seven of the first fifteen players in the NBA draft. He is one of the few agents in the world that has had success in not one but two professional sports. Already representing players like Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol, he has moved into the MLB and has established business with other high profile athletes such as Chase Utley and Hideki Matsui.

4.) Drew Rosenhaus

The owner and president of Rosenhaus Sports which he represents many big name athletes such as Terrell Owens, Willis McGahee, and Marion Barber to name a few. He is notorious for working with players unhappy with their contracts and has been one of the more familiar faces in the media compared to other behind the scenes agents.

5.) Phil De Picciotto

The president of Athletes & Personalities for Octagon, one of the largest multi-sport athlete management firms in the entire world. He is involved with athletes in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, Olympics, golf, tennis, soccer and even action sports.  He is now focused on building a major coaches practice in which the company will represent high paid coaches throughout the different leagues.
