Man Gets $1,300 In His Domino's Delivery Box Instead Of Chicken Wings

by Sean Levinson

A California man opened a box of chicken wings from Domino's to find a very large sum of cash.

Bartender Mike Vegas ordered pizza and wings from a Domino's in Berkeley, California on Friday because he thought he had the night off, Huffington Post reports.

He ended up getting called into work, so when the food arrived, he ate one slice before placing the pizza and unopened wings in the refrigerator, according to ABC7.

Vegas told NBC Bay Area, "I got off work really late, and when I came back home, I found the cash in the delivery box -- a refrigerated deposit... I was rubbing my eyes at 5 am, laughing at myself."

Inside the box was a stack of bills totaling $666 and another totaling $632.

The delivery driver tried to call him all night, Vegas said, but the bartender couldn't answer his phone at work.

Vegas went to sleep and called the worried employee back the following morning. The driver was supposed to go to the bank after making the delivery and simply gave Vegas the wrong box.

Vegas said,

I wrote a Facebook post and of course there's a long list of people arguing you should keep it, you shouldn't keep it,you should keep it, you shouldn't keep it. I wanted to keep it, believe me. But I can't, I can't do that.

He went to the Domino's on Saturday and returned the money.

Domino's Pizza General Manager Zia Mumtaz reportedly told Vegas,

Thank you so much for this, honest people are hard to find these days. Just to thank you, we're going to offer you free pizza for a whole year.

The offer was gladly accepted.

Numerous Facebook users were afraid the delivery driver would be fired, but Vegas confirmed later that day the driver is still a Domino's employee.

Vegas told ABC7 he was especially happy to hear the driver was not penalized because he is a former delivery man himself.
