This 10-Year-Old Surfed Next To A Great White Shark Like A Total Badass

When was the last time you had a near-death experience that made you appreciate your life a lot more than you already did?

I have a near-death experience just about every single day of my life. That's because I live in Los Angeles and, for some reason, no one knows how to drive properly here.

Meanwhile, there's some 10-year-old kid named Eden from Australia who would literally laugh in my face if I told him that. Eden had been out surfing near Australia's Port Stephens when a great white shark suddenly swam within a few feet of him.

Luckily for Eden, he had already been on his way back to shore before anything tragic could have happened. As a result, Eden's dad Chris Hasson was able to snap a handful of epic photos that show the great white shark lurking eerily behind him.

Hasson took to Facebook to share the badass photos, saying,

I'm on the rocks taking photos of Eden. I see a big dark shape and about to call the small group in and Eden takes off on a left and smashes it to the beach. Just as he is taking off I see something out of the corner of my eye. I keep shooting and after he finishes and starts paddling out I zoom in on the second photo and see he's just done a backhand snap on an 8-foot great white shark's head.

No thanks.

I think we owe dad some credit here. Not only did he snap the legendary photos, but he also managed to remain calm while other parents would have instantly panicked (hi, mom).

And in case you were wondering -- YES, that is a REAL great white shark, people. But imagine if it wasn't...

So, what's next for Eden? I mean, he probably deserves some kind of a gold metal or something, right? I'd think so!

It turns out his dad is going to cherish such a frightening memory by framing the photo and hanging it up. Hasson said,

This photo is going straight to the pool room. Not every day you get a photo surfing over a big white.

Damn right! When Eden's old enough, he's got a Tinder profile photo that'll work like a charm every fucking time!
