The iPhone 8's Rumored New Name Is So Bad It'll Make You Want To Go Android

Right now, there isn't a lot of intel out there about the iPhone 8.

It might have a bigger screen. It might have a completely redesigned home button. It will probably be released in September of this year.

Every year, we have to rely on nothing more than months of shady leaks about the upcoming iPhone, because Apple is so damn good at keeping the secrets close to its chest.

One thing we assumed we knew was the brand new phone would be called the iPhone 8.

But according to a new report from Mac Otakara, a Japanese website, it could have a different name — and it's about to end the hype.

Seriously, even the guy who camps out overnight to be at the front of the line on iPhone release day will have his buzz killed. The name is THAT bad.

Brace yourself for the 2017 model. It could be called the "iPhone Edition."

I mean, it's such a boring name that I'm struggling to make fun of it. Just…ew.

Apparently, the name would signal that the phone is a higher end model, as opposed to it sounding like the latest update in a series.

And if you're thinking there's no way this rumor could be true, can I remind you of the terribly-named Apple Watch Edition?

All this adds up when you consider the crazy amount of cash the new iPhone will cost you.

The report adds Apple is testing a few prototypes that have different features.

For instance, some prototypes have the home button, and others have alternative features, Mac Otakara said.

What is likely is the phone will have a five inch display, wireless charging and dual cameras.

Apple is also set to launch the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus alongside the iPhone Edition, it has been claimed.
