President Obama’s health care initiative, dubbed by supporters and critics alike as “Obamacare,” was enacted in 2010, but a new poll suggests that four out of 10 Americans have no idea that it is in fact law.
The poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation shows that 42% of Americans are unaware that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the formal name of Obamacare) is actually law.
Here are the findings from the poll:
“Four in ten Americans (42%) are unaware that the ACA is still the law of the land, including 12 percent who believe the law has been repealed by Congress, 7 percent who believe it has been overturned by the Supreme Court and 23 percent who say they don’t know enough to say what the status of the law is.”
People are quick to speak about things they don’t know, and this is case in point.
For those who want more information on the Affordable Care Act, the White House website has a a full rundown on it, entitled “What the New Health Law Means for You and Your Family.”
