President Donald Trump says he likes Bernie Sanders, but the feeling definitely isn't mutual.

During a speech Trump gave at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, he said,

A lot of Bernie people voted for Trump. You know why? Because he's right about one issue: trade. Our country is being absolutely devastated with bad trade deals. So, he was right about that. But we got a lot of Bernie support. So, actually, I like Bernie.

The crowd cheered and applauded after he said this.

Trump also reiterated a claim he made during the US presidential campaign the Democratic party "rigged" the election against Sanders.

This sentiment is shared by many Bernie supporters, and it's fair to say it contributed to Hillary Clinton's ultimate loss.

Many Bernie supporters also believe he would've defeated Trump, but feel the Democratic party was very set on having Clinton as the candidate, so he wasn't given a fair shot.

Whether or not this is true is open to question.

But, the amount of support Bernie Sanders got from millennials, who comprise the largest share of the electorate next to baby boomers, is definitely notable.

About half (50 percent) of eligible millennial voters participated in the election. It's conceivable more would've voted if Sanders had been the Democratic candidate, and this arguably could've led to his victory.

After a hotly contested primary season, when it was clear Sanders was not going to receive the Democratic nomination, he ultimately supported Clinton.

Sanders continues to be one of the most outspoken and admired politicians in the country, and is especially critical of Trump.

While Trump said he likes the former presidential candidate, Sanders recently referred to the president as a "pathological liar."

On NBC's "Meet The Press," Sanders said,

We have a president who is delusional in many respects, a pathological liar.

Indeed, it's pretty safe to say Sanders doesn't care whether or not Trump likes him.
