Glen Pannell, a gay man who looks like Mike Pence's long-lost twin, is meandering around New York in short shorts and collecting money for organizations championing progressive causes.

This is pretty amazing, given Pence frequently exhibits laser-like homophobia, and now a guy who looks like him is out there spreading the love (because love is love).

Pannell calls himself "Mike Hot-Pence" (you can follow him on Twitter at @MikeHotPence), and if you happen to be in Times Square in the near future, you might seem him out there collecting money.

Pannell has collected money for Planned Parenthood and the Natural Resources Defense Council, so he's also deeply concerned about women's health (and reproductive rights) and the environment.

Donald Trump is quickly filling his cabinet with individuals who are anti-abortion and climate change deniers, so it's understandable why Pannell is also focusing on these issues.

This weekend, Pannell will collect money for The Trevor Project.

Speaking with The Huffington Post, Pannell said,

[The Trevor Project] is really close to my heart because I was a questioning teen 35 years ago growing up on Long Island before I finally came out as a gay man in my early 20s. LGBTQ young people will need our full support over the next few years given Mike Pence's record in office. So much of what he's done in the last 16 years has divided and excluded ― not united.

Pannell apparently first dressed as "Mike Hot-Pence" this past Halloween, and decided to put his appearance to good use after the election when he was feeling somewhat downtrodden about the state of the country.

He told The Huffington Post,

I want to raise dollars and I want to raise awareness. And maybe offer some hope too. Isn't it nice to imagine a bizarre through-the-looking-glass alternate reality where there's a Mike Pence who champions women's health and LGBTQ rights and the environment? Well that's me!

Heroes don't always wear capes. Sometimes they have an uncanny resemblance to Mike Pence and rock the shortest of shorts.

With that said, it's getting pretty cold out there -- let's hope Pannell is finding a way to stay warm!
