Hillary Clinton Just Proved You Can Still Say Smart Things While Stoned

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who doesn't support the legalization of marijuana, may have just inadvertently made a case for it (sort of).

While the former secretary of state was tweeting things about education, she decided to retweet this tweet about the high cost of community college.

But she got a very interesting response.

Indeed, Hillary Clinton just retweeted something a person sent while high, arguably proving that using marijuana doesn't necessarily mean you don't have intelligent or important things to say.

There are plenty of marijuana users who are productive members of society, in spite of the stigma of the "lazy stoner."

This @sspiderboy person has clearly enjoyed this interaction and the ensuing results.

Perhaps in addition to championing lowering the cost of education and making college debt free, Hillary should reconsider her stance on marijuana.

At present, Clinton wants to reclassify marijuana from a Schedule 1 to Schedule 2 drug, which is significant given pot is currently classified alongside drugs like heroin by remaining a Schedule 1 drug.

Clinton also thinks the US should stop imprisoning people for marijuana, and isn't opposed to the idea of further research being conducted on its effects. But she hasn't gone as far as supporting decriminalization or legalization.

Support for marijuana legalization among Americans hit an all-time high this year.

A survey from AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research showed a majority of Americans support legalization (61 percent), with especially high support coming from people between the ages of 18 and 30 — 82 percent of this group supports legalization.

It's arguably time for Hillary Clinton to revisit her stance on this issue. It would conceivably help her with young voters, a group she's consistently struggled to win over.
