Joe Biden Might Save Us From Trump In Four Years: 'I'm Going To Run In 2020'

On Monday, Vice President Joe Biden opened the door for a possible presidential run in 2020.

If he was serious, this is pretty big news.

After he was jokingly asked by CNN if he planned to run for office again, he said,

Yeah, I am. I'm going to run in 2020.

When asked to clarify what position he intended to run for, the vice president said,

For president. What the hell, man.

Biden then told CNN it was perfectly "OK" for it to run his quote, adding,

No, I've enjoyed every minutes of my time here in the Senate. It's a great feeling to come back. I love this place.

Later on, Biden said he wasn't fully "committing" to running just yet, but this reportedly occurred after a long and notable pause. He added,

I'm not committing not to run. I'm not committing to anything. I learned a long time ago fate has a strange way of intervening.

It's hard to say whether Biden was just joking or if he is still seriously considering running for the highest office in the land.

All of this contradicts Biden's recent claims his political career would conclude when his tenure as vice president ended.

But it now looks like the vice president, who's already dedicated much of his life to public service, might not be done with US politics just yet.

Many were hoping the vice president would run this year, but the death of his son Beau was ultimately too emotionally draining.

Back in September, Biden addressed this,

I planned on running. To be completely honest with you, I had planned on running… But… my son, Beau, a year before it was time for me to begin to really put this together was diagnosed with a death sentence, stage four glioblastoma. Virtually nobody makes it, but you still hold out hope, you know, and things can happen, there's so much happening. When he passed, part of my soul was gone. And no woman or man should ever run for president unless they are capable and willing to give every ounce of their energy to the endeavor. And I just wasn't.

But it seems Biden, now 74, might have the energy for a run in just a few years.

He didn't totally confirm it, but he didn't totally deny it either.

Perhaps we really will see a President Joe Biden one day?

Only time will tell.
