Jon Stewart returned to television on Thursday night, joining his old pal Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show."

This couldn't have come at a more opportune moment, as Donald Trump had just formally accepted the Republican nomination for president, delivering a speech that makes Voldemort seem like a relatively nice guy.

As Stewart aptly put it,

Well, the convention is over. I thought Donald Trump was going to speak. Ivanka said he was going to come out. She said that he was really compassionate and generous. But then this angry groundhog came out, and he just vomited on everyone for an hour.

Then he really nailed the sentiments that defined the Republican National Convention, when he stated,

They have a very clear plan for America...Jail your political opponent...Spend the rest of the time scaring the holy bejesus out of everybody.

Stewart concluded with a message for Trump supporters that will make you wish he still had his own show. Touching on the let's-take-our-country-back mentality that permeates Trump's campaign, he said,

This country isn't yours. You don't own it! You don't own patriotism, you don't own Christianity. You sure as hell don't own respect for military, police and firefighters. ...I see you, and I see your bullshit.

It was classic, glorious, Jon Stewart. It's nice to have you back Jon, even for a little.
