Trump Calling The Press The 'Enemy' Of The People Has Even Made Fox News Mad

Hey, remember when the president of the United States called multiple reliable news outlets the "enemy of the American people?"

The fact the most powerful man in the world labeled the media a national adversary certainly does not bode well for our freedom of the press.

Well, you know who's having none of this? Fox News anchor Chris Wallace who absolutely schooled White House Chief of Staff (who also has a name that sounds like a "Harry Potter" villain) Reince Priebus.

Chris asked Reince (who's definitely a Slytherin) a very simple question,

Reince, the president believes that a free and independent press is a threat to the country?

Reince tried to give a more complex, less threatening interpretation to Trump's denouncement of the news. Keyword: "tried."

There are certain things that are happening in the news that just aren't honest. We're not talking about everyone, Chris. We're not talking about all news. We are talking about something he's termed as fake news.

Uh, major news sources are not fake news. They're actual news.

While Reince was upset over the media's constant Russia coverage, Chris continued to remind him of the dangerous road Trump was heading down,

Reince, here's the problem. I don't have any problem with you complaining about an individual story. We sometimes get it wrong, you guys sometimes get it wrong. I don't have any problem with you complaining about bias... But the president went a lot further than that. He said that the 'fake media,' not certain stories, the 'fake media,' are an enemy to the country. We don't have a state-run media in this country. That's what they have in dictatorships.

Reince then retorted about how the balance of the coverage of Russia's interference with election and Trump's few successes has been uneven,

As soon as it was over, the next 20 hours is all about Russian spies, how no one gets along, how nothing's happening. Give me a break.

This is when Chris dropped that mic hard in a way I've never seen a Fox News anchor drop anything (except their credibility on occasion).

You don't get to tell us what to do, Reince. You don't get to tell us what to do any more than Barack Obama did. Barack Obama whined about Fox News all the time, but I've got to say, he never said we were an enemy of the people.

Gasp! Dare I say Fox News actually misses Barack Obama?

If that's not a sign of the dangerous times we live in, I don't know what is. Just kidding! I do know what is.

Let's not forget how the Trump administration's spending might be greater in four years than Obama's eight years in office, or how Trump asked a black reporter a super racist question, or his lack of security at Mar-a-Lago.

None of this is normal.
