A female teacher told police she wrote more than 30 letters to a teenage student, sparking a sexual relationship between the two.

Nina Scott, who taught at The Village school in Philadelphia, is facing 70 charges relating to her affair with the 16-year-old girl.

The 28-year-old from Downington, Pennsylvania referred to the student as her girlfriend, and described her two-year-old child as “our baby girl,” Philly.com reported.

She also described getting a headboard for “our bed” and wrote she was “rolling over in bed and missing (the student) because she was not there,” according to the charges.

It's said the two had an eight-month sexual relationship, which began when the girl passed Scott a note in class asking how she'd feel if she kissed her, and if she would tell anyone.

Scott replied saying she wouldn't, and the student said they kissed in the classroom.

The secret relationship, said to have occurred between February and October last year, was discovered when the student's journal was found during a routine inspection of her room at a youth services facility where she was staying.

In it, she described Scott as her “future wife,” “the love of my life" and “good in bed.”

The couple initially denied the relationship when confronted by authorities, before later admitting to it.

Radnor Police Superintendent William Colarulo said,

As a parent and as a police officer for 36 years, it never ceases to amaze me when you put children in the care of a position such as a teacher and they violate that trust.

Scott was initially suspended and then fired from her post at The Village, a school for troubled youth, when she was charged.

In a statement, the school said,

We received notification of an allegation of abuse against one of our staff members in October 2016 related to a former resident of our program. It was our understanding that the alleged incident did not occur on our property. The staff member's employment was immediately suspended at that time. In December we were notified of pending criminal charges at which time the staff member's employment was formally terminated. We fully cooperated with outside law enforcement as they proceeded with this investigation.

Scott has been charged  with 34 counts of institutional sexual assault of a minor and 34 counts of corruption of minors.

She's also been charged with one count of concealment of the whereabouts of a child and one count of interfering with the custody of a committed person.
