British Prep School Bans Snapchat In Hopes Of Preventing Their Students From Future Embarrassment
Eton College, an all-boy prep school, whose alumni include Princes William and Henry, has banned Snapchat from the school’s Wi-Fi network.
They have apparently had a problem with the young aristocrats engaging in the lustful, hormonal side of Snapchat, frequently sending graphic, sexual images to their counterparts at all-girl institutions.
“Boys can still use it via the 3G phone network, but we hope that blocking it on our network will at least make them think twice,” said school Headmaster Tony Little. “This is part of our continuing effort to educate boys in the sensible use of technology.”
Considering Eton’s history of producing top businessmen and politicians, it makes sense for them to limit their students’ opportunities to potentially embarrass themselves and to use the app as an opportunity to preach about the responsible uses of social media.
Unfortunately for them, the students still have access to the app through their data plans and will be able to make whatever mistakes they’d like.
As their age, however, they may appreciate the steps their future alma mater took to look out for them.
