Google Unveils New A Robotic Dog Proving The Future Is F*cking Scary

by Emily Arata

See Spot run.

Or, more accurately, see robotic Spot run at the speed of an adult man.

The complex robot, technically named the Legged Squad Support System, was developed by Google-owned laboratory Boston Dynamics over a period of five years and is the newest edition to a series of technologically advanced "dogs" designed for any terrain.

Daily Mail reports Spot's purpose may be military; the Marines have been testing Spot's "big brother," Cujo, as a heavyweight battlefield companion that can carry up to 400 pounds of gear and armaments.

The invention is an incredible step forward for robotics, but there's something hair-raising about watching the 160-pound robot stumble and regain its balance each time it's kicked.

The future is here, and it's moving faster than you've ever imagined.
