Tesla May Team Up With Google To Create Autopilot Feature On Cars
Tesla Motors is on the forefront of revolutionizing the way we look at automobiles and driving in general. CEO Elon Musk is potentially turning to a certain tech giant in order to develop the next big thing in the automotive industry.
Musk is in talks with Google to develop an “autopilot” function for new iterations of his company’s electric cars.
The idea of self-driving car is not as intriguing of an idea as an autopilot program would be.
“Self-driving sounds like it’s going to do something you don’t want it to do,” he said. “Autopilot is a good thing to have in planes, and we should have it in cars.”
Tesla Motors, a Silicon Valley-based company, has many innovative features on automobiles, such as in the Model S and Model X cars.
Google has been toying with the idea of self-driving cars for years now, and has implemented their Google Earth cars that map the street view all over the world. This feature allows people to be virtually on blocks halfway across the world, while physically remaining in the comfort of their own living rooms.
If these two major companies join forces to create a revolutionary new technology that makes driving safer, the world is in for the dawning of a new era. While many companies are tied up in patent wars, it’s refreshing to see some collaboration is still possible.
