A 21-year-old man in Texas protected his parents from home intruders, as he shot dead one of three men who were armed and stormed their home at around 8 p.m. on Thursday night.
The father, a man of eastern European descent, answered the door, and the three men forced their way into the Houston-area home.
One intruder was reportedly carrying a shotgun, while another was wielding a pistol.
“I see a young boy and I think it is a friend of my son so I open it a little bit,” the father, who understandably did not want to be identified and pictured out of concern for his safety, explained.
“These guys push and out comes two more, they push me on the ground.”
The son retrieved the gun he had stored under his bed and fired three shots, one of which hit one of the intruders.
The man died at the scene.
The other two men were allegedly duct-taping the father’s wrists when the shots were fired.
“I just heard a couple of times: boom, boom, boom,” the father told the local station. “One young life is lost.”
Police located the men in a white Ford Explorer nearby and promptly arrested them.
No charges are expected to be filed against the 21-year-old. Under Texas law, a person is justified in using force if an attacker unlawfully and with force enters a home, car or workplace.
