$2.7 Million Worth Of Cocaine Seized At Miami Airport
One must be very courageous (and foolish) to attempt to pack any sort of illegal drug in their luggage. An unknown drug trafficker, a seemingly inexperienced one, clearly did not consider the consequences of his actions and took a chance that did not pay off.
Federal customs agents at Miami International Airport discovered 230 pounds of cocaine packed inside three separate suitcases this past Sunday.
Having noticed certain irregularities, Agents decided to take the pieces of luggage for a trip through an X-ray machine. Amongst the three suitcases, agents discovered roughly 90 bricks full of white powder. After some testing, the substance tested positive as cocaine.
The estimated street value of the coke was about $2.7 million.
According to the AP, the incident is still under investigations and the fate of the owner of the luggage is currently unknown.
“This seizure of cocaine was the direct result of the hard work and dedication of CBP officers who protect the community by detecting and preventing the introduction of narcotics and illicit contraband into the United States,” said Roland Suliveras, CBP port director at Miami International Airport in a press release.
