400-Pound Woman Is Hospitalized After Falling Through The Sidewalk In NYC

An obese woman in New York City who is said to weigh over 400 pounds was hospitalized after falling through the sidewalk on the Upper East Side.

The 31-year-old 400-plus pound woman fell through the sidewalk on Friday night, on the corner of East 60th Street and 2nd Avenue.

According to witnesses, the woman fell about 7 feet into the basement of the Atomic Wings restaurant.

Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department were called to the scene and the woman was eventually pulled out of the hole.

FDNY Fire Chief Thomas Jemmott told the New York Post that the woman had to be pulled up in a “high-angle rescue unit,” which resembles a crane with cargo netting.

“She is a very large person, but we were able to secure her and stabilize her and lift her out of the hole,” he said.

The woman was treated for a shoulder injury at a local hospital.

We’ve heard of people falling for New York when they come here, but I don’t think that’s what they mean.

This Anti-Bullying Commercial Means Well But Completely Misses The Mark

Er… this anti-bullying PSA might prove that sometimes, something that is well-intentioned can still fail to deliver. The commercial, produced on behalf of VH1 by advertising agency Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi, attempts to show how bullying is bad, and the ways in which students can cope after they’ve been victimized by the school’s biggest […]

Night Owls: Women Who Don’t Sleep Regularly Have Fewer Relationships And More Sex

This new study gives an entirely new meaning to “women of the night” — apparently the ladies who like to stay up late are more likely to get laid. The University of Chicago-sponsored study indicates that the women who consider themselves night-owls have similar risk-taking behaviors to their male counterparts. Both men and women who […]

The Wall Street Journal Insinuates Mets Fans Can Get Lucky At Games

Mets fans will be visiting Citi Field this season, not to watch the team win some games (that’s impossible), but to potentially get lucky! I don’t know if Jared Diamond is responsible for his own titles, or who is editor is, but someone at the Wall Street Journal might be packing up his or her […]
