Birthdays are always special when you’re a kid, but when you turn 12 at exactly 12:12 PM on 12-12-12, you have every right to say it’s especially cool.

Kiam Moriya officially celebrated his twelfth birthday about 12 minutes ago, at 12:12 PM on 12-12-12.

His birthday truly is a a once in a century occurrence.

Moriya’s parents said they didn’t even realize the coincidence until they went to fill out his birth certificate two weeks after he was born.

“The lady who was helping us fill out the forms said, ‘Do you realize your son was born December 12 at 12:12 p.m.?’” Kiam’s father, Kazuo Moriya, said. “That’s when it really hit us with all those twelves. I do have to admit that it might mean something, but I have no idea what. It’s definitely a little crazy.”

“There are these weirdos out there online, all these doomsday people, saying he needs to be killed and that he’s the Antichrist,” his father told Today. “We’re trying to tone it down because it’s a little freaky. It’s just a fun little story.”

Moriya emigrated from Tokyo when he was 15 and now works for an automotive manufacturing supplier in Alabama.

The number 12 does hold major significance, however, as the Japanese consider 2000 to be the 12th year in the reign of the current emperor and is known as “Heisei 12.”

Moriya was ordained in Japan as a Presbyterian minister, and said the number 12 had major biblical significance from the 12 apostles to the 12 tribes of Israel.

“A lot of people didn’t believe it,” he said. “We had to bring the [birth] certificate to show people just to prove that we’re not making it up.”

Kiam is just looking forward to get passed all of the attention.

Man Gets Caught With Five Wives, Seven Fiancées And Five Girlfriends

Sonko Tijan once joked that Austrians couldn’t tell black men apart. He was proven wrong after a little social media research led investigators to his five wives, seven fiancées and at least five girlfriends, none of whom were aware of one another. The 28-year-old, originally from Gambia, was caught in his own web of lies […]

I Am The Girl Who Married Myself And I Have A Pretty Good Reason Why

“Jessica, you may be addicted to love,” said my therapist on a gloomy San Francisco afternoon, interrupting my sobbing over another heartbreak. “Wait, you mean with that Florence and The Machine song?” I laughed nervously, staring at the knockoff Persian carpet, looking to escape in its dense garden. My therapist gently assured me: You are seeking the […]

Runaway Bride: My Choice To Walk Away From Love Led Me To Everything I Was Looking For

When I imagined myself getting married, ironically, I pictured that ending scene in “Runaway Bride” when Julia Roberts walks through the grassy field towards Richard Gere. With her hair blowing effortlessly in the wind; the fall foliage is vibrant against her ivory gown, and her off-the-shoulder dress trails behind her. She finally strides up to […]

Women’s Rights Campaign Uses Porn Parody Video To Promote Consent

Sexual assault and rape on college campuses are, unfortunately, too common. A whopping one in five college girls is reportedly a victim of some sort of unwanted sexual contact. Women’s rights group UltraViolet launched a new campaign to spread among universities to hopefully lessen the instances of abuse. The campaign video took an old-school porn approach, illustrating […]
