Applebee's Waitress Fired

Earlier in the week an Applebee’s employee was fired after posting a guest’s meal receipt on Reddit. The guest was a local pastor who decided that he doesn’t care about the livelihood of the people that he is supposedly shepherding.

Instead of leaving an 18% tip that is customary — a tip that the waitress, like all other waitresses, depend on — the pastor wrote down “I give God 10%, why should you get 18.”

“I thought the note was insulting, but it was also comical,” said Chelsea, the waitress that the pastor stiffed. “I posted it to Reddit because I thought other users would find it entertaining.”

Apparently the pastor got hint of the receipt going viral and being as embarrassed as he should have been, he decided that instead of apologizing, the best route to go would be to get not only the waitress, but the entire management at Applebee’s fired.

Thankfully he didn’t get his wish, but the innocent waitress still got sacked. This is an email from Applebee’s spokesman Dan Smith:

“Our Guests’ personal information – including their meal check – is private, and neither Applebee’s nor its franchisees have a right to share this information publicly. We value our Guests’ trust above all else. Our franchise has apologized to the Guest and has taken disciplinary action with the Team Member for violating their Guest’s right to privacy. This individual is no longer employed by the franchise.”

It Takes 74 Gallons Of Water to Grow A Single Pound Of Avocados

This is horrible news. Avocados, everyone’s favorite fruit (and the subject of many an Instagram), are apparently ruining the environment. OK, so that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but get this: It takes a whopping 74.1 gallons of water to produce just one pound of avocados (compared to lettuce, which requires 5.5 gallons per pound). […]

College is officially free in Germany, as every single state in the European nation has abolished tuition fees. According to the Australian, German universities only began charging tuition fees in 2006 after a court ruled that moderate fees and loans did not violate the country’s constitutional devotion to providing higher education to its citizens. After four years of undergrad, two years of grad school and several years of denial, I would say I’m seasoned on college life matters. As a bitter old man, slowly adjusting to my quarter-life crisis, I have come to resent quite a few things about college students and, of course, my former self. Below is a […]

Pranksters Make Fake Border And Passport Check Between Scotland And England (Photos)

A group of Scots and Englishmen attempted to lighten the tensions in the UK with a hilarious prank that shows not everyone is so gravely concerned about the vote for Scottish independence. British Opposition leader Ed Miliband told Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond earlier this month that border guards and passport checks would need to be set […]
