It’s no secret that there are various different opinions on President Obama’s religious views and what kind of faith he actually holds. Some people believe he is secretly Muslim, while others think that he privately is an atheist.

The latter is no surprise, since new research suggests that America’s religiously unaffiliated were some of Barack Obama’s biggest supporters.

These people are known by pollsters as the “nones,” because they might still be religious, but don’t belong to a specific organized branch. NPR reports that “Nationally, Obama lost the Protestant vote by 15 points, won the Catholic vote by 2 points, and captured 70 percent of the ‘nones.’”

The “nones” vote will continue to be a big part of Presidential elections in the coming years if candidates stay away from subscribing to one religion. This will also increase the amount of people who vote more for same sex marriage as well as abortion, as the “nones” have no obligation to vote against it.
